Information about aspirations for mission before it occurred.

The FSTG is joining forces with Chemistry Innovation Limited who is steering a US Formulation Mission which will take place in America from 2 - 6 May 2011. Chemistry Innovation is a UK national Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) established in 2006 to stimulate and support product and process innovation in the UK chemistry-using industries. This is a UK focussed project looking to develop and implement a business-driven overseas mission (USA) within the field of Formulation Science and Technology. The UK delegation will be made up of Innovative technology providers (SMEs), Industry end-users, Industry Networks, Academia/Research centres and European Partners.

This five day trip (2nd–6th May 2011) will bring new connections with a strong overseas knowledge base, showcase best practice in formulation science and technology and stimulate global R&D and innovation collaborations. Whilst this mission is primarily focused on science and innovation, there will also be opportunities to identify and exploit new global market opportunities and new supply chain connectivity.

Confirmed highlights include visits to The National Formulation Science Laboratory (NFSL), Mississippi and The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Washington DC. Furthermore the FSTG will be represented at a 1-day UK/US Formulation Innovation Seminar at Chemspec USA 2011, Philadelphia. This seminar is designed for the benefit of UK and US formulating industries and structured to: showcase R&D/technology, encourage networking and stimulating cross-sector, interdisciplinary, transatlantic collaborations.

Funding (50% of travel, accommodation and subsistence costs) was available for up to 8 UK SMEs from world-class technology providers or innovative end-users who design, develop and manufacture globally competitive formulated products - this funding has now been allocated. If you are interested in attending this Mission and are able to fund yourself you are encouraged to contact Chemistry Innovation. Prospective non-UK delegates should also contact us but should be aware that participation may be limited.

This Mission aims to establish a sustainable transatlantic Formulation Innovation network.
